Founded in 1924, the National League of Cities (NLC) is a nonpartisan public officials’ association that exists to promote the mutual interests of the roughly 18,000 cities, villages, and towns it represents. As a league of numerous state-level municipal leagues, the NLC facilitates the sharing of information among members and the advocacy of city interests in the state and national legislative processes.
